What is GED?
General Educational Development or GED is a test which consists of 5 subjects. If passed,
the GED test taker will be granted a GED Diploma which equals to high school diploma.
A GED test taker must be at least 16 years old on the test date while GED Diploma will be
granted only when a test taker is 17 years old.
American Council on Education (ACE) developed the GED test to help veterans,
homeschooling, or people who want to get into a college to have an opportunity to earn
a high school diploma. Currently, GED test centers are located in more than 70 countries.
GED credentials are widely accepted in several countries, including Thailand, as
high school equivalency.
Why do I need to take GED?
In Thailand, GED credential is accepted by Ministry of Education as high school
equivalency (Mathayom 6) which can be used for college/university admission in many
institutions including Thammasat University, Mahidol University International College,
Bangkok University International College, and Assumption University (ABAC).
How to pass GED Exam?
GED consists of five subjects as follow:
1. Language Arts, Reading: Literary, Poetry, Drama, Prose, Critical Review, and Business Document
2. Language Arts, Writing: Sentence Structure, Usage, Mechanics, and Organization
3. Mathematics: Number & Operations, Geometry, Measurement & Data Analysis, and Algebra
4. Science: Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics
5. Social Studies: US & World, History, Geography, Civics & Government, and Economics
The maximum point of each subject is 800. To pass the GED, there are 2 requirements:
1. Score 410 or more in every subject
2. Total score must equal to or exceed 2,250
You need to complete both requirements to pass GED examination. If you score 420 in
every subjects which make total score 2,100; you only pass the first requirement but fail
the second. On the score report, you will get "Non-Pass" result.
If I fail GED exam, can I re-take?
Yes, you can re-take an exam in any subject; however, there are some regulations below.
1. Scheduled test date must be at least 90 days from previous test date in the same subject.
2. You cannot take an exam in particular subject more than 3 times per one calendar year.
How does an exam look like?
GED test format is multiple choices. A GED test taker will have to write an essay only in
Language Arts, Writing.
Below is the sample question from GED Mathematics.

How to apply for GED?
You need to apply online only. Go to Apply for Test Page and follow the link to apply.
Test fee must be paid by credit or debit card (check with bank issuer if your card is eligible

Four things you must know when applying for GED examination
1. Test center in Thailand is located on 6th floor, Maneeya Building (within walking distance
from BTS Chidlom Station). Call 02 652 0734 for information.
2. It is recommended to arrive at test center 30 minutes prior to scheduled test time.
3. On test date, bring your valid passport to identify yourself.
4. Calculator is not allowed in mathematics test.
I pass GED, then what's next?
In the past, you need to bring GED Transcript and Diploma to Ministry of Education to
prove as high school equivalency. According to new regulation of Ministry of Education,

การศึกษาให้กับชาวอเมริกันตลอดจนผู้ที่ต้องการได้รับการศึกษา ปัจจุบันมีผู้จบการศึกษาในหลักสูตร
GED จากทั่วโลกกว่า 15 ล้านคน ผู้ที่จบหลักสูตร GED ตั้งแต่อดีตจนถึงปัจจุบันนั้นมีมากมายหลากหลาย
อาชีพ อาทิ Aaron Carter, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson และ Britney Spears
GED เป็นรูปแบบการศึกษานอกโรงเรียนที่เปิดโอกาสให้ผู้ที่อยู่ในสหรัฐอเมริกาและประเทศอื่นๆสอบได้
โดยผู้ที่อาศัยอยู่นอกสหรัฐอเมริกาจะต้องมีอายุตั้งแต่ 16 ปีขึ้นไป แต่จะได้รับประกาศนียบัตร (Diploma)
ก็ต่อเมื่ออายุครบ 17 ปีบริบูรณ์เท่านั้น
สอบ GED ไปเพื่ออะไร
ข้อสอบ GED ประกอบไปด้วยเนื้อหา 5 วิชา หากสอบผ่านครบทั้งหมด ผู้สอบจะได้รับใบคะแนน
(Transcript) และใบประกาศนียบัตร (Diploma) ซึ่งกระทรวงศึกษาธิการของไทยให้การรับรองว่า
มีเนื้อหาเทียบเท่าระดับมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ซึ่งทำให้สามารถนำผลการสอบ GED ไปเป็นหลักฐาน
ประกอบการสมัครเข้าศึกษาต่อในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยในประเทศไทยได้
เนื้อหารายวิชาของหลักสูตร GED
ข้อสอบ GED ประกอบไปด้วยเนื้อหา 5 วิชาดังต่อไปนี้

การสอบ GED ให้ผ่านตามเกณฑ์นั้นมีเงื่อนไขอยู่ 2 ข้อดังนี้
1.
ผู้สอบต้องสอบให้ได้อย่างน้อย 410 คะแนนขึ้นไปต่อวิชา (แต่ละวิชาจะมีคะแนนเต็ม 800 คะแนน)
2. ผู้สอบต้องได้คะแนนรวม 5 วิชาตั้งแต่ 2,250 คะแนนขึ้นไป
ผู้สอบต้องผ่านเงื่อนไขทั้งสองข้อจึงจะถือว่าสอบผ่านตามข้อกำหนดของหลักสูตร GED ตัวอย่างเช่น หากนักเรียนทำคะแนนได้ 420 คะแนนในทุกวิชา (ผ่านเกณฑ์ข้อ 1) เขาจะมีคะแนนรวมทั้งสิ้น 2,100
คะแนน (ไม่ผ่านเกณฑ์ข้อ 2) ผลสรุปคือเขายังสอบไม่ผ่านนั่นเอง
นักเรียนสามารถสอบใหม่ได้ (ไม่ว่าจะได้คะแนนต่ำกว่าเกณฑ์หรือผ่านเกณฑ์แต่อยากได้คะแนนสูงขึ้น)
อย่างไรก็ตาม มีกฎเกี่ยวกับการสอบใหม่ที่ควรทราบดังนี้
1. วันที่สอบใหม่จะต้องห่างจากวันที่สอบครั้งก่อน (ในวิชาเดียวกัน) ไม่ต่ำกว่า 90 วัน
2. การสอบในแต่ละวิชานั้น จะสามารถสอบได้ไม่เกิน 3 ครั้งต่อปีปฏิทินเท่านั้น

4. ผู้สอบควรไปถึงสถานที่สอบอย่างน้อย 30 นาทีก่อนเวลาสอบ
5. ผู้สอบต้องนำหนังสือเดินทาง (Passport) ที่ยังไม่หมดอายุไปแสดงตัวกับเจ้าหน้าที่ประจำศูนย์สอบ
6. ในการสอบวิชา Mathematics ห้ามผู้สอบนำเครื่องคิดเลขทุกชนิดเข้าไปในห้องสอบ
เหตุผลที่ควรเรียน GED ที่สถาบันเอมส์
1. ความน่าเชื่อถือ สถาบันเอมส์เปิดสอนตั้งแต่ปี 2538 โดยมีนักเรียนที่สามารถเข้าศึกษาต่อ
ในสถาบันการศึกษาที่มีชื่อเสียงต่างๆมากมาย ในปีการศึกษา 2554 นักเรียนของสถาบันเอมส์สามารถ
ผ่านการคัดเลือกจากหลักสูตร นานาชาติทุกหลักสูตร เช่น BBA, EBA, BACM, ISE, BALAC, BSAC และ

ทั้งหมดที่ได้รับคัดเลือกให้เรียนในหลักสูตรนานาชาติของจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย
2. ประสบการณ์สอน สถาบันเอมส์เปิดสอน GED ตั้งแต่ปี 2545 โดยมีนักเรียนที่ผ่านการเรียน GED
กับสถาบันเอมส์ไม่ต่ำกว่า 1,000 คน (แม้ว่าแต่ละชั้นเรียนจะจำกัดจำนวนนักเรียนไม่เกิน 7 คนก็ตาม)

ดังนั้นจึงทราบดีว่าการประเมินผลมีความสำคัญอย่างมาก นักเรียนจะได้ฝึกฝนโดยผ่านแบบทดสอบแบบ

ต้องเข้าใจเนื้อหาที่เรียนและนำไปใช้ในอนาคตได้อีกด้วย สถาบันเอมส์จึงไม่สนับสนุนการ update
แนวข้อสอบโดยบอกข้อสอบแก่นักเรียน เนื่องจากวิธีนี้ทำให้นักเรียนสอบผ่านได้โดยไม่มีความเข้าใจ
หากนักเรียนไปเรียนต่อในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยจะเกิดปัญหาขึ้น การตั้งใจเรียนด้วยตัวเองจะทำให้เกิด
ประโยชน์แก่นักเรียนเองในอนาคต
6. คุณภาพในการให้คำปรึกษาด้านการศึกษาต่อ นักเรียนหลายคนไม่แน่ใจถึงแผนการเรียน
ในอนาคตและต้องการคำปรึกษา นักเรียนหลายคนยังไม่สามารถตัดสินใจได้ว่าควรเรียนวิชาใดหรือ
แม้แต่สนใจศึกษาต่อในด้านไหน สถาบันเอมส์จึงมีการให้คำแนะแนวทางด้านการศึกษาเพื่อช่วยให้
นักเรียนวางแผนได้ดียิ่งขึ้น บุคลากรที่สถาบันเอมส์พร้อมให้คำแนะนำรวมไปถึง
